The West Bengal Miscellaneous Services Exam is conducted by the West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) for recruitment to various Group B and C posts under different departments. The exam tests candidates on general knowledge, arithmetic, language skills, and analytical ability.
The selection process is divided into three stages:
Preliminary Examination (Objective/Screening)
Main Examination (Written)
Personality Test / Interview
1️⃣ Preliminary Examination (Objective)
The Prelims is a screening test with multiple-choice questions. Only candidates who qualify in the prelims are allowed to appear for the Main Examination.

The Prelims exam is designed to test the basic aptitude and general knowledge of candidates.
2️⃣ Main Examination (Written)
The Main Examination is descriptive and evaluates candidates on language skills, general knowledge, and arithmetic abilities. The exam consists of three papers:
Paper I — English
Essay writing
Paragraph writing
Precis / summary writing
Translation (from Bengali/Hindi to English or vice versa)
Grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension
Sentence correction and usage
Paper II — Indian Language
Candidates choose one Indian language:

3️⃣ Personality Test / Interview
Candidates who qualify in the Main Examination are called for a Personality Test / Interview.
Evaluates communication skills, confidence, reasoning, and overall personality.
Marks obtained in the interview contribute to the final merit list.
